I found gold in the wreckage

Yesterday, driving to the office for a coaching session with my dear client E, I the song “Mine” by Phoebe Ryan shuffled through my playlist. Here are the lyrics that had me singing my heart out:

I found gold in the wreckage
Put it on a necklace
Keepin’ it ’cause I-I-I, I know that it’s mine
I wear it like a message
So I don’t forget it
Keepin’ it ’cause I-I-I, I know that it’s mine

I know that it’s mine no matter what I do
I know that it’s mine whether I win or lose
And even though my heart needs to take its time
I know that it’s mi-i-ine, I know that it’s mine

Here’s why those words touch my heart.

All of us have the opportunity to discover something precious in the wreckage of our worst moments. And that something is our highest Self. It is our deep knowing of our Goodness, our Worthiness, our Truth. The energy of Self is known through what IFS calls the “8 Cs”: compassion, caring, curiosity, courage, creativity, clarity, confidence, and calmness.

Self belongs to you, even if your heart needs time to let it lead. Self is yours, no matter what you do or don’t do, no matter you win or lose or choose not to play, no matter what. Say to yourSelf, “it’s mine.”
